Chief of Staff – Engineering (gn)

Your mission
As a Chief of Staff - Engineering, you will act as a counterpart, advisor and decision maker in technical discussion for both internal and external stakeholders. Reporting directly to the CEO/CTO/Co-Founder and working closely with the CPO you ensure that our product vision and strategy is translated and executed into a clear, consistent and aligned technology strategy. 

You will work hand in hand with Engineering Managers and cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, design and business stakeholders acting as a counterpart, advisor and decision maker in technical discussions.  

As a Chief of Staff - Engineering you will: 

  • Underpin “why” and “what” into a clear idea of “how” by translating product vision and strategy into a technology strategy and roadmap 
  • Work closely with the team of engineering managers (EMs), each of them being responsible for individually contributing engineers & consult the Product Development process with the Engineering org 
  • Maintain and constantly improve the engineering organization, enhance its structure, best practices and accountability 
  • Drive decisions in technical discussions and make sure that stakeholders are well supported when implementing decisions 
  • Provide mentorship to EMs and engineers in technical, organizational and leadership topics 
  • Help prioritizing in people’s assignments and budget allocation 
  • Proactively seek, facilitate and apply opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaboration across the group to surface the value created by teams and individuals 
Your profile
  • You have worked as an engineer before and have the technical capabilities to learn, understand and improve our tech-stack 
  • Proven track record of leading and developing a team in a tech company 
  • Experience within an organization of cross-functional teams building a (software)-product 
  • You are used to work in agile environments and feel comfortable with modern ways of software development 
  • Confident in resolving complex conflicts as well as driving decisions aligned with company / product strategy  
  • Experience in creating a consistent and easily digestible tech roadmap that is based on the product roadmap 
  • Familiar with resource planning and allocation 
  • You are self-reliant and proactive problem solver with a small ego 
  • Willingness to have a regular presence in our office in Dresden
